Because
I grew up in a period of intense influx of oriental fighting
arts in the United States, I developed an early interest in
the martial arts. I began my study at a local YMCA where I was
enrolled in a Judo class for several months. In 1982, at the
age 14, I met Thanh Le, a refugee from Vietnam, and my formal
training in the martial arts began. Sifu Le instructed me over
the next six years in Wing Chun hand applications and a multitude
of unorthodox Chinese Boxing techniques.
In 1991,
I was introduced to Master Arthur Berry in DeKalb, Illinois,
and, under the auspices of his instruction in Northern Shaolin
and Tai Praying Mantis Kung-Fu, my formal training took a more
complex and fulfilling direction. I was awarded the instructor
rank in 1996 and currently reside in Germany. My curriculum
of martial study includes Northern Shaolin, Tai Mantis, Wing
Chun, and Chi Kung internal Kung-Fu.
